On July 11, 2012, I had the honor of photographing my first birth.
The Mama (Jacki) and I go way back, in a weird way. Her cousin Lisa was one of my very best friends all through middle school and high school. So I knew of Jacki and had met her before when we were kids. Fastforward, oh, 15 years or so, and here we are. Jacki was pregnant with her 4th child and bid on one of my photo sessions at a fundraiser auction and I did her maternity pictures. I then ended up shooting her birth, which I was SO excited about.
Without further ado, here is the birth of Ms. Clare Ann Compton.
Not so fun being in labor and the only one who can't eat!
We all made guesses as to when the baby would be born and how much she'd weigh
I tried hard to pick "appropriate" pictures that wouldn't embarrass Jacki or make anyone uncomfortable, so just a warning - this was a BIRTH shoot, but there are no x-rated pictures in here ;)
At 2:41 pm a 6lb. 12oz. baby girl was born, and Dad Tim got to help deliver!
I felt so special to get to document this occasion, and I look forward to more births in my future. By far my very most favorite shoot!! :) Thank you, Comptons, for the opportunity. I love little Clare and she will always have a special place in my heart!!
Tim even said I should get a picture with her! :)
